Port MCP

You can ingest entities into your catalog using Port MCP tools. This is useful when an agent or an IDE workflow needs to create or update entities as part of a multi-step SDLC automation.

For example, an agent can:

  • Create an entity after generating a new service scaffold.
  • Update ownership or metadata after a change is merged.
  • Upsert an incident entity after correlating alerts.

How ingestion works

Port MCP exposes tools for managing catalog data (for example, upserting entities). An agent can call those tools directly, using the same permissions and governance you configure in Port.
